By Jade Pruett, SEO Strategist at Mind Over Marketing: an agency specializing in marketing for therapists.
By now, you are familiar with the tactics you need to create a good marketing strategy and even the ins and outs of blogging and optimizing pages for Google. To advance your website’s SEO even more, it’s now time to add some tools to your toolkit. Here are the best SEO tools for therapists that can help boost your traffic and give you a better understanding of what is happening on your website.
In fact, these are the same tools I use every day to help my clients rank on the first page of Google for their desired keywords.
Let’s go!
Best SEO Tools For Therapists
Google Analytics
If you want to know the behind the scenes of your website, Google Analytics is the way to go. It can tell you how many people are coming to your website, how they got there in the first place, which pages they are visiting the most, how long they stayed on your website, and so much more.
Google Analytics is the best tool around for gathering data about your website, so you can help serve your clients better in the future. As a huge plus, it’s completely free and easy to set up. This is a must-have for anyone looking for learn more about the analytics side of their website.
Google Search Console
Google Search Console is another incredible tool from Google that helps make sure your pages are being seen by Google. Once you’ve signed up to this free tool, you can “request indexing” for certain pages of your website. Doing this sends a note to Google to be sure to crawl your page soon to see all of the new things you’ve added.
Another great feature in Google Search Console is the “performance” tab that allows you to see data about your Google presence. You can see what keywords you are ranking for, how many searches you are appearing in, and how many of those searches are resulting in a click to your website.
Mailchimp
If you are planning to incorporate email marketing into your SEO strategy, I’d highly recommend Mailchimp. Mailchimp offers a free plan to help you manage your email subscribers, send out mass emails, and so much more. However, keep in mind that Mailchimp is not HIPAA compliant, so it should only be used for marketing purposes, not correspondence with individual clients.
Answer The Public
Answer The Public, which we already discussed in our Blogging For Therapists article, is an incredible tool for discovering what people are searching around your niche. All you have to do is visit their website, type in your desired niche like “Play Therapy,” and you will instantly have data from thousands of search terms around your topic. This is great for coming up with new content ideas for your website, since you now know the exact questions they are asking.
Ahrefs
Not to be biased, but Ahrefs is my absolute favorite SEO tool. This tool, which offers a free and paid version, can tell you so much about your website by simply entering in your URL. You can discover what keywords you are ranking for, how many people are backlinking to your website, and even how much traffic your competition is getting from certain keywords you’d also like to rank for. I highly recommend visiting Ahrefs and simply digging around to see what you can find about your website and niche.
Google Pagespeed Insights
Last but not least is yet another tool from Google. Google created the algorithm that makes SEO possible, so of course their tools are worth checking out! Google Pagespeed Insights is the best tool out there for quickly checking your page speed. How fast your page loads is a very important part of SEO because Google doesn’t want to promote websites that take too long to fully load. This tool is a great way to make sure your website is up to par to Google’s standards, so you can get the most out of all the hard work you put into your site.
That’s it!
These are the best tools out there to take your SEO game to the next level.
